COLORED PENCILS IN JARS

Community members can help Pender County students start the school year with the tools they need by supporting the 26th annual Stuff the Bus school supply drive.

Organized by Communities In Schools of Cape Fear, the regional campaign collects new school supplies for students and families in Pender and New Hanover counties. Donated items will be sorted by volunteers and distributed to children who need additional support as they prepare to return to the classroom.

School buses will be available to receive donations from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at:

  • Office Depot at Hanover Center

  • Staples on College Road

Donations may also be dropped off at Stuff the Bus locations across the area.

Suggested donations include backpacks, notebooks, pencils, pens, folders, crayons and other new classroom supplies.

Those unable to visit one of the bus locations can contribute through collection barrels placed at participating businesses and organizations throughout the area. A complete map of collection sites is available through the Communities In Schools of Cape Fear website.

Donations may also be made by purchasing items from the organization’s Amazon Wish List.

Support from the community can help reduce back-to-school expenses for families and ensure more students arrive on their first day prepared, confident and ready to learn.
