BURGAW, N.C. — Pender County Schools Superintendent Dr. Brad Breedlove has been named Regional Superintendent of the Year, an honor recognizing his leadership, service, and commitment to students, staff, families, and public education across southeastern North Carolina.

While the recognition honors Dr. Breedlove’s leadership, he said the award reflects the work of the entire Pender County Schools community.

“I am grateful to be recognized for this honor, but no superintendent earns an award like this alone,” Dr. Breedlove said. “This is really a district honor, highlighting the high quality of our employees across Pender County Schools and the steady leadership, guidance, and support provided by our Board of Education.”

Pender County Board of Education Chair Don Hall congratulated Dr. Breedlove on the recognition and praised the steady leadership he has provided for the district.

“Dr. Breedlove’s selection as Regional Superintendent of the Year is a well-deserved recognition of his steady leadership, his commitment to students and staff, and his ability to bring people together around the work of public education,” Hall said. “He leads with both passion and compassion, and his advocacy for Pender County Schools and rural southeastern North Carolina continues to make a meaningful difference. On behalf of the Board of Education, we are proud to congratulate Dr. Breedlove on this outstanding honor.”

The recognition also highlights the collective work taking place across Pender County Schools each day, from classrooms and school offices to buses, cafeterias, maintenance teams, central services, and district leadership. Dr. Breedlove said the honor belongs to the employees who support students and families across the county.

Since becoming superintendent, Dr. Breedlove has continued to focus on student achievement, employee support, school safety, community partnerships, and expanding opportunities for students across Pender County.

Pender County Schools congratulates Dr. Breedlove on this well-deserved recognition and celebrates the employees, students, families, Board of Education, and community partners whose work and support continue to move the district forward.
