2026-2027 Traditional School Calendar
BURGAW, NC - During its regular meeting on February 10, 2026, the Pender County Board of Education voted unanimously to approve Option 5 of a revised traditional calendar for the 2026–2027 school year.
The newly approved calendar adjusts the student start date to August 24, 2026, with the final day of school scheduled for June 2, 2027.
Under the revised calendar, the first semester will consist of 79 instructional days and will conclude on December 18, 2026. Students will return for the second semester on January 6, 2027, with the second semester totaling 95 instructional days.
This action replaces the previously approved 2026–2027 traditional calendar, which had established an August 10, 2026 start date and a May 21, 2027 end date.
Board members expressed their appreciation to families, staff, and community members who reached out and shared feedback regarding the previously approved calendar. The Board values public input and encourages continued engagement as decisions are made in the best interest of students and the school community.
