As part of School Board Appreciation Month, Pender County Schools is pleased to recognize Jennifer Hansen, who serves as Vice-Chair of the Pender County Board of Education. Ms. Hansen was elected Vice-Chair during the December 9, 2025 Board of Education meeting.
Representing District 1, Ms. Hansen brings a deep and personal connection to Pender County Schools. Her involvement spans more than a decade and includes serving as PTA President at both Penderlea School and Pender High School, participation on district advisory committees, and hands-on classroom support as a substitute teacher. Her experiences provide valuable insight into the needs of students, families, and educators.
Beyond education, Ms. Hansen has demonstrated strong civic leadership through service on multiple community boards and committees, often in chair roles. Her thoughtful approach and collaborative mindset strengthen the Board’s work and help ensure decisions are grounded in community perspective.
Dr. Breedlove praised Ms. Hansen’s leadership, saying, “Ms. Hansen brings a powerful combination of firsthand school experience and community leadership to the Board. Her passion for education and her willingness to listen and lead make her an outstanding Vice-Chair.”
