Pender County Schools is sharing this year’s Board of Education Holiday Card selections, created by students from across the district. Each fall, art teachers invite students to submit work that reflect winter or holiday themes. Board members review the pieces and choose several to feature on the cards that go out to staff, families, and community partners in December.
This year’s selected students are:
Julieta Paz-Martinez, 6th grade, Burgaw Middle School
Gracie Jacoby, 10th grade, Heide Trask High School
Olivia Sisco, 10th grade, Pender Early College High School
Lucio Cruz-Martinez, 4th grade, Rocky Point Elementary School
Brayden Pate, 8th grade, West Pender Middle School
Reese Roberts, 7th grade, West Pender Middle School
Alice Kaemmer, 1st grade, Surf City Elementary School
Josie Cina, 8th grade, Surf City Middle School
Their artwork will appear on the district’s holiday cards, which are printed and mailed each season. The pieces represent a wide range of styles and grade levels. Teachers say students often look forward to the project and enjoy seeing what others create.
The district also thanks the art teachers who supported their students through the process: David Diehl (Burgaw Middle), Lily Buckley (Heide Trask High), Shannon Grable (Pender Early College High), Holly Harrison (Rocky Point Elementary), Happy Jones (West Pender Middle), Kathleen Hanson (Surf City Elementary), and Ashley Berdeau (Surf City Middle).
PCS appreciates the time students put into their submissions each year and the guidance provided by their teachers.
