HAMPSTEAD, NC - Three Topsail High School students have earned a coveted spot in one of the nation’s most iconic holiday traditions. Reese Balbuena (Colorguard), Bryce Hughes (Cymbals), and Natalie Corbett (Flute) have been selected to perform with the Macy’s Great American Marching Band during the 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.
The students will travel to New York the week of Thanksgiving for rehearsals with top high school musicians and performers from across the country. Their selection is a reflection of hard work, discipline, and dedication within the Topsail High music program.
Band Director Jake Wentzek says the honor is well deserved. “Performing in the Macy’s Parade is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and these students earned it through countless hours of practice and commitment,” Wentzek said. “We’re incredibly proud to have them represent Topsail High and Pender County Schools on a national stage. It’s a moment they’ll never forget.”
PCS congratulates Reese, Bryce, and Natalie and looks forward to cheering them on as they perform in front of millions during the Thanksgiving Day broadcast.
