HAMPSTEAD, NC – Topsail Annandale Elementary School is delighted to announce the appointment of Ms. Jessica Bellflower as the new principal. With a wealth of experience in education and a passion for fostering academic excellence, Ms. Bellflower is eager to lead the school to new heights.
Currently serving as the principal of Berkeley Preparatory Academy, a K-8 charter school in Charleston, SC, Ms. Bellflower has successfully overseen the education of approximately 800 students. Her dedication to educational innovation is underscored by her hands-on experience teaching both Wit and Wisdom and Eureka Math Squared as a classroom teacher. Furthermore, she has served as an instructional coach during the first year of implementing these programs, contributing to their successful integration into the curriculum.
Ms. Bellflower holds a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Iowa and a Master's in Educational Leadership and Special Education Directing from the University of Northern Colorado. Her leadership in her current role for the past three years has garnered admiration and success within the school community.
"I am thrilled to join Topsail Annandale Elementary, an extraordinary school community," said Ms. Bellflower. "It is my goal to continue the tradition of excellence here at Topsail Annandale Elementary."
Ms. Bellflower’s first day on campus will be December 18, 2023. She will work alongside current Principal Melissa Wilson thru December 20, the final day before Winter break. Ms. Wilson has accepted the position of Pender County Schools Director of Human Resources.
Ms. Bellflower and her husband Tony, along with their two dogs Jack Daniels and Mako, are relocating to the Wilmington area. Excited to be closer to extended family, the couple enjoys exploring the local beach, trying new restaurants, and sharing a passion for sports. As an Ohio native, Ms. Bellflower spends her weekends cheering for the Cincinnati Bengals, The Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Cincinnati Reds. Her favorite personal hobby is cracking open a new book.
The Topsail Annandale Elementary School community warmly welcomes Ms. Bellflower and looks forward to a successful and collaborative partnership under her leadership.
