Thanks to the leadership of THS Interim AD - Coach Chris Blake, and our entire Pirates Coaching Staff, our THS Athletics Department has been recognized by the National Federation of High School Associations (NFHS) as an NFHS Level 1 Honor School! In order to earn this recognition 100% of our THS Coaches had to earn their NFHS Level 1 National Coach Certifications which required the completion of four (4) Coach / Athletics related professional development continuing education courses. (see below) The NFHS will ship a NFHS Level 1 Honor School banner to our school to proudly display in our Main Gym. Very Proud of Coach Blake and our THS Coaches for modeling the importance of being Lifelong Learners for our student-athletes in their continued pursuit of our standard of excellence in their craft! 📚🍟 Fries for School Supplies is Back! 🍟📚 We are excited to announce that for the second year in a row, our local McDonald’s owner-operators are hosting the Fries for School Supplies fundraiser in our school district! Last year, over $110,000 was raised for our area schools, and we’re aiming to do even more this year! 🎉 From August 26th to 30th, McDonald’s will donate 10% of sales from all a la carte Fries to help support our schools. It’s a delicious way to contribute to our community! 🙌

ATTENTION BUS RIDERS... Bus 251 will be picked up by Bus 230 an hour late in the morning. In the afternoon, those students will ride home on Bus 230, which will not leave the THS campus until 4:20pm. Bus 324 will be picked up by Bus 229 in the morning and will be on time.

🏈 Friday Night Lights Are Back! 🏈 We're excited to kick off the high school football season tonight with all three of our varsity teams—Heide Trask, Pender, and Topsail—playing at home! 🎉 Come out and support our student-athletes as they give it their all on the field! Reminder: New this year, metal detectors will be in place at all high school football and basketball games to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. ✂️ Back-to-School Haircuts! ✂️ Cape Fear Community College is offering free haircuts this Saturday, August 24, from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Barber School located at 108 Walnut St. No appointments needed—just walk in! All haircuts will be supervised by a licensed instructor and are first-come, first-served. Remember, students under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. TOPSAIL HIGH SCHOOL WELCOMES MRS. MICHAEL OWEN AS NEW ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL HAMPSTEAD, N.C. — Topsail High School is excited to introduce Mrs. Michael Owen as our new Assistant Principal. Mrs. Owen brings a wealth of experience and a strong dedication to education, which will greatly benefit our students and staff. Mrs. Owen graduated from Appalachian State University with a BS in Communication Disorders and later earned teacher certification in secondary mathematics. She began her career in education in 2001 as a mathematics teacher in Watauga County Schools, where she taught at both the middle and high school levels for ten years. During this time, she also completed her Masters in School Administration at Appalachian State University. After six years as an Assistant Principal at Watauga High School, Mrs. Owen and her family relocated to Hampstead. Since 2017, she has been an Assistant Principal at Emsley A. Laney High School in New Hanover County. Outside of her professional commitments, Mrs. Owen enjoys spending time with friends and family, boating, traveling, supporting her daughter’s all-star cheerleading achievements, and cherishing moments with her granddaughter. We are thrilled to have Mrs. Owen join the Topsail High School family and look forward to the positive impact she will have on our school community.

TOPSAIL HIGH SCHOOL INTRODUCES MR. MICHAEL KLINE AS NEW ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL HAMPSTEAD, N.C. — Topsail High School is happy to welcome Mr. Michael Kline as our new Assistant Principal. Mr. Kline brings over 21 years of teaching experience and a passion for creating unique learning opportunities for students. Mr. Kline has served as a special education teacher in the Alamance-Burlington, Durham, and Wake County Public School systems. Most recently, he was an AIG Specialist with Onslow County Schools. He holds a Masters in School Administration from UNC-Wilmington and is dedicated to setting high expectations for all students. Mr. Kline looks forward to working with the exceptional staff at Topsail High School to help the school achieve at the highest level. His experience and commitment to educational excellence will be a great asset to our school community.
