During a week when we show our appreciation for what teachers do for our students, Ms. Bachman stands out for her unwavering commitment to bring out each student's creativity and talent! From the art classroom to the boardroom as the North Carolina Art Education Association President-Elect, Ms. Bachman champions the profound impact an art education has on a student's life! We are so proud of how she represents The Pirate Way! We wish her well as she now competes to be the 2027 Burroughs Wellcome Fund NC Teacher of the Year! Well-deserved Ms. Bachman!

Families, please be aware that afternoon bus routes may be delayed today due to several non-school related traffic accidents in the Highway 17 area. Some cleanup efforts are still ongoing, which may impact transportation this afternoon.

Cadets were recognized for their hard work and accomplishments throughout the school year, highlighting their commitment to excellence both in and out of the classroom. We were also honored to have our community partners join us in recognizing award recipients and supporting these outstanding students.
A special moment of the evening was recognizing our four seniors as they prepare to step into their next chapters. Their leadership and impact on this program will not be forgotten. At the same time, it has been incredible to see our younger cadets rise to the occasion, stepping into leadership roles and continuing to strengthen the future of our program.
We are incredibly proud of our Raider teams and Color Guard, whose dedication, teamwork, and discipline were on full display all year long. Their accomplishments reflect the countless hours of practice and commitment they’ve invested. In addition, our cadets achieved record-breaking hours of community service this year—making a meaningful impact both in and out of uniform.
A huge thank you to our students, families, staff, and especially Master Chief Brown and Chief Saparito for their leadership and unwavering support. Because of this collective effort, our program continues to grow and thrive.
We are excited about what’s ahead, including the addition of a marksmanship shooting team and orienteering team next year. The future is bright, and we look forward to the continued growth and success of our cadets and program. 🌟
March 27th marked the close of North Carolina HOSA’s 50th Anniversary state leadership conference, and we are excited to share that Cina is stepping into her new role as NC HOSA State President for 2026–2027 (Team 51) after serving as President-Elect this past year. HOSA (Future Health Professionals) is a global, student-led organization aimed at promoting career opportunities in the healthcare industry and enhancing the delivery of quality healthcare with over +11,000 members in North Carolina alone.
Throughout her time on the State Officer Team, Cina has represented North Carolina HOSA with excellence serving as an ambassador at professional events, attending leadership conferences and trainings, promoting HOSA growth across the state, supporting communication between chapters, and modeling professionalism and teamwork in every setting.
Her commitment to leadership and service extends far beyond the classroom. Cina has attended the Washington D.C. Leadership Academy advocating for Perkins Funding which is for CTE class funding. Last summer she represented North Carolina at HOSA Internationals in Nashville, and will represent North Carolina again this year in Indianapolis. She is a HOSA - Barbara James Service Award recipient. The award is given to students for outstanding community service.
In addition to her HOSA accomplishments, Cina has received early admission to Duke University’s Pratt School of Engineering and was recently named a recipient of both the prestigious Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship and the B.N. Duke Scholarship.
We are beyond proud of Cina and all she has accomplished. Her dedication, leadership, and heart for service truly set her apart. We can’t wait to see where this next journey takes her, there is no doubt she will continue to do amazing things!

Pirates, we are positive, involved, responsible, attentive, thoughtful, and empowered. This year, the faculty started a new initiative to honor the quintessential characteristics of a Topsail Pirate by nominating students in the senior class who most exhibit each of the six qualities. This week, we are focusing on the Empowered trait. Empowered Pirates are strong and sure of themselves. They exude confidence as they take initiative, practice self reliance, advocate for improvement, and take an active leadership role in our school. The 25-26 winner for the Empowered Pirate Award is Elizabeth Brinson.
