TOPSAIL HIGH SCHOOL WELCOMES MRS. MICHAEL OWEN AS NEW ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
HAMPSTEAD, N.C. — Topsail High School is excited to introduce Mrs. Michael Owen as our new Assistant Principal. Mrs. Owen brings a wealth of experience and a strong dedication to education, which will greatly benefit our students and staff. Mrs. Owen graduated from Appalachian State University with a BS in Communication Disorders and later earned teacher certification in secondary mathematics. She began her career in education in 2001
as a mathematics teacher in Watauga County Schools, where she taught at both the middle and high school levels for ten years. During this time, she also completed her Masters in School Administration at Appalachian State University. After six years as an Assistant Principal at Watauga High School, Mrs. Owen and her family relocated to
Hampstead. Since 2017, she has been an Assistant Principal at Emsley A. Laney High School in New Hanover County. Outside of her professional commitments, Mrs. Owen enjoys spending time with friends and family, boating, traveling, supporting her daughter’s all-star cheerleading achievements, and cherishing moments with her granddaughter.
We are thrilled to have Mrs. Owen join the Topsail High School family and look forward to the positive impact she will have on our school community.

TOPSAIL HIGH SCHOOL INTRODUCES MR. MICHAEL KLINE AS NEW ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
HAMPSTEAD, N.C. — Topsail High School is happy to welcome Mr. Michael Kline as our new Assistant Principal. Mr. Kline brings over 21 years of teaching experience and a passion for creating unique learning opportunities for students. Mr. Kline has served as a special education teacher in the Alamance-Burlington, Durham, and Wake County Public School systems. Most recently, he was an AIG Specialist with Onslow County Schools. He
holds a Masters in School Administration from UNC-Wilmington and is dedicated to setting high expectations for all students. Mr. Kline looks forward to working with the exceptional staff at Topsail High School to help the school achieve at the highest level. His experience and commitment to educational excellence will be a great asset to our school community.

Dear Class of 2025, Senior portrait sessions that were scheduled for Wednesday through Friday (August 7-9) will be rescheduled for Tuesday through Friday (August 27-30) in the THS auditorium lobby. Students who signed up for portrait sessions will automatically be rescheduled for the same day of the week and time of their original appointment. If you are unable to make your appointment time/day, please email Brooke Butterworth at brooke.butterworth@strawbridge.net to reschedule or request a refund. If you were unable to sign up for a senior portrait session in June or August, you have two options: Email Brooke Butterworth at brooke.butterworth@strawbridge.net to see if there are any times you can sign up for on August 27-30. During the week of September 3rd, seniors who have not had their portrait taken for the yearbook will be invited to sign up for a time on September 10th to have their portrait taken. This will just be the one pose for the yearbook and will be available for purchase through a link that will be emailed to parents from Strawbridge at a later date. 🌧️ Despite the weather cutting freshman orientation a bit short, we had an amazing time with 300 of our newest students on Monday and Tuesday! 🎉 From school tours and engaging sessions on expectations to team-building activities and discovering ways to get involved at Topsail High, it was a day full of excitement and connection. ✨ Students also had the chance to sign their graduation banner—what a great start to their journey with us!
Mark your calendars for Open House on August 22 from 4-7 PM. We can’t wait to welcome our students and families back for another fantastic event!


Due to severe weather, all PCS facilities will close and after-school events are canceled starting at 4 PM today, August 6. This includes schools and admin buildings. Penderlea and Pender Early College students will dismiss on time. Emergency staff will be contacted if needed.


Topsail High will close today at 1pm ensure the safety of our students and staff.
