🎶 The band director at SCM, Mr. Judy, came to visit our SCE 5th graders today to talk about being in band class next year. ALL students are able to be in band class if they would like. There will be an in person interest meeting on April 22nd & 29th at 6pm in the SCM Cafeteria. At this meeting parents and students will be able to decide which instrument they will play and start renting their instrument. Please email Mr. Judy if you have any questions at trevor_judy@pender.k12.nc.us 🎺

Thank you for supporting our current Fundraiser at SCE. I wanted to take a moment to just share some of the contributions our PTA makes to our school and our students.

The PTA uses the money raised from Boosterthon for subscriptions such as AR, Star Reading, and Freckle, just to name 3. We also purchase supplies to support events such as the upcoming Field Day, STEAM night and other events. We are also using funds to provide in House field trips free of charge to all of our students. We purchase playground and gym equipment as needed for all the kids to enjoy. We use funds as needed to help improve school grounds, such as the sod last year and seeding as needed as well as other playground and school improvements however we are able.

The more money we are able to raise, the more we are able to support programs that benefit all of the kids, as well as providing educational and fun opportunities for the entire school.

Keep up the great work with our Boosterthon! We appreciate you!!

Ms. Stewart’s 4th grade class had a blast reviewing for their NC Check-In with a game of Capture the Flag! 🚩

Students worked in teams to solve math problems, making sure everyone had the correct answer before buzzing in. One teammate then showed their work on the board—and if they were correct, they got to “capture” a mystery sticky note from another team! Each color was worth a different number of points, adding excitement and strategy to the game.

This fun, engaging activity helped students review important skills and get ready to rock their math check-in! 💪📚

🌟 Mrs. Carmichael's 4th grade students ran a hands-on lab to see how height affects speed—and how that speed changes the sound when an object collides with an object not in motion. .They measured, observed, and listened closely, then compared results and shared their ideas. 🔍📐🔊

Ms. Pleasants' PreK class is celebrating the arrival of spring! 🌸🌱 Today, they created a special spring craft and enjoyed a fun spring snack of flower-shaped cookies and fresh veggie sticks. It was the perfect way to kick off their gardening unit and talk about how plants grow. They are so excited for all the hands-on learning and exploring this season will bring! 🌼🌿

3rd grade had a wonderful time on their field trip to Everett Creek Preserve. The students enjoyed a long hike where they learned all about pine trees and ways we can help protect our forests. Along the way, they discovered some really exciting sights, including Venus flytraps!
