Students playing Oregon Trail

Fifth graders recently celebrated the completion of their first module with activities inspired by their learning! While reading Thunder Rolling in the Mountains, students explored the history of the Nez Perce tribe and the journey led by Chief Joseph.

To wrap up the module, students participated in a variety of activities, including painting inspired by Swan Necklace, a character from the novel, and creating Nez Perce-inspired necklaces. They also got to play the original Oregon Trail computer game, a classic that many of their teachers remember playing in elementary school! Students also completed projects to showcase what they learned throughout the module.

It was a fun way to bring their learning to life, connect with the past, and celebrate all they’ve accomplished in fifth grade!
