Our 5th graders have been making the most of their final year at Rocky Point, packing their days with meaningful experiences, laughter, and just a little bit of that “last-year magic.” From building connections to getting their hands dirty (in the best way), it’s been a season to remember.
During Read Across America Week, our students partnered with their Kindergarten Buddy Classrooms for a heart-melting celebration of reading. Kindergartners showed up dressed as their favorite book characters, turning the hallways into a storybook come to life. Our 5th graders stepped into the role of reading mentors, carefully choosing books and sharing stories with their buddies. It was one of those moments where you could practically see confidence and kindness growing in real time.
Next up, learning went full-on immersive at the third annual Pender County Schools Agriculture Education Day at Penderlea Farms. Students explored horticulture, animal science, and agriculture through hands-on stations that kept curiosity buzzing all day long. The highlight? Each student planted and took home their very own lettuce plant, a little green souvenir of everything they learned. Future gardeners in the making 🌱
And to top it all off, our 5th graders wrapped things up with their final Field Day at Rocky Point. There was excitement in the air (and plenty of water too), as students rotated through activities and especially loved the water stations that helped beat the heat. It was the perfect send-off, full of laughter, teamwork, and memories they’ll carry with them as they head to middle school.
From buddy reading to farm adventures to one last Field Day splash, our 5th graders are finishing strong—and we couldn’t be prouder.
