Our Rocky Point Rams have been learning and growing so much in PE this year. Students are building much more than strength and stamina—they’re developing confidence, coordination, and teamwork through high-energy, hands-on units like cup stacking, scooter city, and jump rope. We have partnered with the American Heart Association with Jump Rope for Heart this year. Our students rose to the challenge. The jump rope unit boosts cardiovascular endurance while improving rhythm, timing, and perseverance, encouraging students to challenge themselves and celebrate growth as they track their own progress. During cup stacking, students sharpen hand–eye coordination, reaction time, focus, and bilateral motor skills while also practicing sequencing, goal setting, and following step-by-step patterns.
Our new PE teacher, Mr. Smith, has brought a wonderful new activity to Rocky Point called Scooter City. Students used scooters to “drive” through Scooter City—stopping at places like the car wash—and earned a PE driver’s license after completing safety rules and skill challenges along the route. In addition to being such a fun activity, Scooter City also provides a wonderful learning opportunity. In Scooter City, students strengthen core stability and balance as they navigate pathways, build spatial awareness, and work together to follow safety rules and move responsibly in shared spaces.
Together, these activities help students develop strong physical and cooperative learning skills—all in a fun, active environment that keeps everyone moving and motivated.. We’re proud of the effort our Rams are putting in as they learn new skills and encourage one another along the way.
