In our STEAM classes this month, our Ram students connected learning and creativity in some truly meaningful ways. As part of Black History Month and 2nd grade's Wit and Wisdom curriculum, students explored the life, leadership, and lasting impact of Martin Luther King Jr. After learning about his powerful message of equality, courage, and peaceful change, students used engineering skills to design and build podiums inspired by where he delivered his historic speeches. This activity challenged students to apply design thinking and problem-solving skills while also reflecting on how one voice can inspire the world. It was an amazing blend of history and innovation.
Students "skated" into the Winter Olympics through a fun, hands-on science and engineering challenge. Using the simple materials of paper plates, magnets, and paper clips, students created miniature ice rinks and designed figure skaters that glide across the “ice.” Students discovered how magnetic force and motion work together, turning abstract science concepts into something they could see and test themselves.
