December was an exciting and memorable month for our 5th grade Rams. 5th graders put their scientific thinking skills to work as they completed their science fair projects. Students planned and conducted hands-on experiments exploring topics such as friction ramps, tooth decay using hard-boiled eggs, apple oxidation, and monitoring heart rates during different activities. We are especially proud to share that one 5th grade team qualified to advance to the district science fair competition—what an outstanding accomplishment! These projects highlight the creativity, curiosity, and hard work of our young scientists.
Students also enjoyed a special field trip to a UNCW Seahawks Women’s Basketball game, where they joined students from Pender and New Hanover County schools to cheer on the Seahawks. Our Rocky Point students had a fantastic time showing their school spirit while experiencing a college athletic event firsthand.
Exciting things are happing here at Rocky Point Elementary!
