4th

In 4th grade Wit & Wisdom, our Rams are continuing to strengthen their writing skills by learning how to craft well-organized explanatory essays and clear, supported opinion statements. Throughout this unit, students are reading George vs. George and Colonial Voices. Colonial Voices is a historical fiction text that brings history to life by sharing firsthand perspectives from different colonists living in Colonial Boston, helping students better understand daily life and viewpoints during this time period.

Using what they’ve learned from the texts and class discussions, our students are writing opinion letters to the Sons of Liberty about the Boston Tea Party. Each student writes from the point of view of a character in the book, using a first-person perspective to persuade others to either participate or not participate in the event. Through this engaging activity, students are practicing critical thinking, exploring multiple perspectives, and supporting their opinions with strong evidence from the text. This work helps students deepen their understanding of history while building essential reading and writing skills.

Way to go to our 4th grade Rocky Point Rams, for your hard work, thoughtful writing, and growing confidence as historians and authors!
