Our 3rd graders have been busy exploring how everything we learn in class connects to the real world! In November, students took an exciting field trip to the Museum of Coastal Carolina and Ingram Planetarium, and the experience was the perfect extension of our Wit & Wisdom Module 2: Space.

At the planetarium, students saw the moon phases in action—just like we learned while studying Galileo—and enjoyed an immersive show about the Apollo 11 moon landing. This tied directly to our classroom texts Moonshot and One Giant Leap, helping students see how stories, history, and science all work together.

At the museum, students explored hands-on exhibits about space and gained a deeper understanding of North Carolina’s natural environment, which connects beautifully with what we’ve been studying in Social Studies Weekly. Students were thrilled to recognize concepts from class and apply them in a real-world setting.

This field trip was more than just a fun outing—it strengthened students’ understanding, sparked curiosity, and reminded them that learning doesn’t just happen in a classroom. Our 3rd graders Rams returned inspired, engaged, and eager to keep exploring how everything is connected!
