Music is alive and thriving at Rocky Point! Our talented music teacher Mrs. Black has been creating joyful and engaging learning experiences for every student. From playing instruments to composing their own songs, students are discovering the magic of making music while building confidence, creativity, and teamwork.
Kindergarten students have been exploring melody and harmony on xylophones! They’re also beginning to prepare for their upcoming Winter Concert, where they’ll get to shine as percussionists—playing bells, rhythm sticks, and drums.

First grade has been busy creating their own “Building Block Compositions.” Using rhythmic building blocks, students wrote original pieces, shared them with classmates, and then brought them to life on xylophones and drums! They’re also putting the finishing touches on their patriotic songs for the Veterans Day performance.

Second grade is hard at work preparing for the Winter Concert. Students are learning choreography for a beautiful scarf dance set to a familiar tune from the classic ballet The Nutcracker.
Third grade musicians are strumming their way toward the Winter Concert by learning new chords on the ukulele! Their growing skills are helping them play more complex and exciting songs as they get ready for their big performance.

We are so thankful for our music program and the passion that Mrs. Black brings to every lesson. The enthusiasm, creativity, and care shown in her music room inspire students daily—helping them find their rhythm, their voice, and their love for learning through music!
