Our fifth grade Rams have been diving into exciting learning experiences in both science and reading!
In science, students explored their first unit by identifying the properties of matter and observing the differences between physical and chemical changes. One of the highlights was roasting marshmallows. An engaging and delicious way to see the characteristics of a chemical change firsthand! Students also examined the physical properties of each ingredient. Our teachers are bringing science concepts to life in a fun, hands-on way.
Just like in science, our reading lessons encouraged students to think deeply about how people interact with the world around them. In English Language Arts, we wrapped up our first Wit & Wisdom module, Cultures in Conflict. Through this unit, students learned about the Nez Perce Indigenous tribe and how their homeland, Wallowa, supported their daily lives and cultural traditions. To celebrate their learning, students created miniature teepees , using materials that represented the natural resources the Nez Perce relied on for shelter.
Our fifth graders are off to an incredible start—exploring, creating, and connecting their learning across subjects!
