Good evening Rocky Point Ram Families,
We truly appreciate all families for joining us for open house Thursday evening. As you know, your partnership is vital to student success! The smiles, hugs and positive conversations were an amazing way to kick off the 2025-2026 school year! We are ecstatic that we had 11 out of 16 classrooms with 100% attendance! We are also very appreciative of all the supplies and wish list items brought in to support student learning and student well being this school year!
BOY Application
Thank you again to all families that have completed your BOY application. Please remember that BOY applications must be completed prior to your student being able to use a Chromebook at school this year, which are vital for our blended learning environments. Please click on this link Beginning of the Year Forms to access this information and submit your application.

Breakfast and Lunch Menus
I've attached PDF menus for the first week of school, 8/25-8/29. They have also been posted to the PCS website under menus. September menus will be posted next week.
Car Transportation Reminders
Our car rider line begins student drop off at 7:00am with our tardy bell ringing at 7:20am. Our dismissal time is 2:20pm. For our car rider line, you will enter by entering the last driveway into the school before the paved road turns into a dirt road. If you have reached the sidewalk by our Kindergarten and First Grade wing, please encourage your child to be ready to exit the vehicle and proceed into the school in order for the car line to move efficiently. Also, please make sure to have a conversation with your child in regards to how they are getting home from school on their first day of school tomorrow.
If you would like to walk your child into school, we are allowing all parents of students in all grades to do so tomorrow on their first day. Parents bringing Kindergarten students for the first time may park in a designated parking space in our bus parking lot and walk them in on their respective staggered days Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. On Thursday, August 31st, we will resume to car drop offs and bus riders only. Following these processes ensures our car line for families choosing to drop and go will move efficiently.
With our afternoon car riders, please display your tag received at open house in your car window tomorrow afternoon. If you will need multiple tags, please email rpe_info@pender.k12.nc.us to request additional ones for your family. With new staff at our car rider line, we feel the tags are vital to ensure the safety of our students. Also for the safety of our students during dismissal, we do not encourage students being picked up after 2:00pm.
Bus Transportation
If you were unable to attend open house, we will send home student bus passes on Monday with students. We appreciate your understanding, patience and communication as we continue to work with our transportation department to ensure every stop is as efficient as possible. Please know that while we hope for a seamless day with bus transportation, there can often be kinks to work out, however please know that your child’s safety is of our utmost importance. I am including bus information below. If you have just enrolled or requested transportation, it may take up to 10 days to get a bus assignment. Please know that school officials do not have the capacity to change stop locations. These adjustments are done at the district level after the need is communicated from the parent at the school level.
Bus stop lookup is live and available for schools/parents to use: Click the link to access: Bus Stop Lookup
Here Comes the Bus will be available again this school year. Please remember that it is not accessible during the first few weeks of school. Schools will receive an email when Here Comes the Bus is available. Links to access information to distribute at open house is below:

Throughout the year, if you have any transportation requests, please email rpe_info@pender.k12.nc.us and we will work as an administrative team to ensure your child’s teacher is aware of any transportation changes needed. All change requests must be sent by 2:00pm.
PTO Meeting
Thank you so much to those families who have already expressed interest in supporting the PTO and our amazing school community. We are excited to kick off the new school year with you! Our first Parent Teacher Organization meeting for the 25-26 school year will take place this Wednesday, August 27th at 5:00pm in our school media center. We hope that you will consider joining this organization this school year. Going forward, PTO meetings will be held on the first Wednesday of each month.
Updated State Law in regards to Cell Phones at School
Pender County Schools remains committed to student health, safety, and academic focus. Cell Phones: A new law limits student use of wireless devices during instructional time. We will continue to ensure classrooms remain focused and distraction-free. If students bring cell phones to school, the expectation is that they remain in their book bags and turned off during the instructional school day. Please have this conversation with your student prior to tomorrow morning.
We appreciate the support of our families and community in promoting a safe, healthy learning environment for all students.
Community Eligibility Provision
A reminder that Pender County Schools is continuing the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), which includes all Rocky Point Elementary students. Both breakfast and lunch will be provided at no cost to all students. No sign-up or documentation is required to participate.
