Good afternoon Rocky Point Families,

A very special thank you to all Kindergarten and First grade families who took the time to bring your child to perform in their spring concert this past Thursday evening.  We would love your feedback with regards to barriers that kept families from attending as we had 70% of our Kindergarten and First grade students not in attendance.  Additionally, thank you to all families who attended our 2023 talent show.  We are so proud of all of our virtual and in-person performers.   A huge shout out and recognition of praise for Mrs. Laura Black, our music teacher, who works so diligently with students to prepare for these events.

Next, I would like to commend the dedication and efforts of our students on the Battle of the Books team as well as the Science Olympiad team as they performed in district competitions this past week and weekend.  While neither team earned district honors, we are beyond proud of each team member for competing closely in all events against other elementary schools across the district!

Thank you to families for working hard to have students at school and on time for assessments this past week.  This upcoming week, students in grades 3-5 will take their NC Math Check-in on Tuesday, April 4th and their NC Reading Check-in on Wednesday, April 5th.  All assessments will begin promptly at 7:30am.

If you have not done so, please return the bus ridership form as soon as possible.  A sincere thank you to all families who have already returned them as we have 71% already turned back in.

A quick reminder that Camp Invention forms need to be turned in to your child’s teacher no later than this Thursday, April 6th if you are interested in attending the camp.  The camp will be held at Rocky Point Elementary School July 10th - July 14th and is open to rising 1st through 6th grade students.

An additional reminder that “Art to Remember” purchases made by Thursday, April 6th and sent to the school will qualify for free shipping.  Click on the link below and enter the order code shown on your child’s order form or use the link to search for your child’s artwork.  If you need assistance and would prefer to not pay online, please return the order form to school with payment and we will be happy to assist you.  https://arttoremember.com/school/38W4TY

A reminder for the continuation this week of our Spring Candy Grams being sold by our PTO.  All orders need to be turned in by Wednesday, April 5th.  Spring Grams will be delivered to students and staff on Thursday, April 6th.  Thank you for continuing to support our RPES PTO.

A sincere appreciation for all families that have signed up for the School Store and contributed to this fundraiser.  It has been a huge success for our school and our staff members have highly appreciated all gift cards that they have received.

Our quote for the week:  “The more you talk about negative things in your life, the more you call them in.  Speak victory not defeat” by Joel Osteen.  Let’s strive for perfect attendance this upcoming week as we head into the 4-day Easter weekend for students next weekend.  Have a great week!
