Good afternoon Rocky Point Families,

Thank you to all families who have upcoming Kindergarten students who have completed enrollment and those that brought them to our screening day this past Wednesday.  If you have not done so, you may enroll an upcoming Kindergarten student at any time through the remainder of the school year.

This past Tuesday third quarter report cards were sent home with all students along with bus ridership forms and camp invention scholarship forms.  Please return the bus ridership form as soon as possible and a sincere thank you to all families who have already returned them.  Camp Invention is a one-week summer camp that offers students opportunities to work on science-related topics engaging in investigations, experiments and engineering challenges.  The camp will be held at Rocky Point Elementary School July 10th - July 14th and is open to rising 1st through 6th grade students.  All forms of interested students need to be returned to your child’s teacher no later than Thursday, April 6th.  Please click this link to find information for this year’s program: Camp Invention® 2023 | National Inventors Hall of Fame®.

On Thursday, March 23rd, students brought home their own created “Art to Remember” order forms.  This is a creative fundraiser that allows you to purchase keepsake products customized with your child’s art.  There are over 60 products and many are less than $15.00.  These make great gifts and a percentage of every purchase comes back to our school.  Click on the link provided below and enter the order code shown on your child’s order form or use the link to search for your child’s artwork.  Then, have fun shopping!  Please strive to make all purchases by Thursday, April 6th.  If you need assistance and would prefer to not pay online, please return the order form to school with payment and we will be happy to assist you.  https://arttoremember.com/school/38W4TY

A reminder that this is the last week to complete the reassignment application, which closes Friday, March 31st.  If you would like for your student to attend a Pender County School other than the one they are zoned for, you will need to submit a reassignment request. A quick reference guide to complete the reassignment application is attached.  Reassignment Request Reference guide

The end of year testing season is beginning this week!  As we have encouraged all year, please have students at school and on time to assist them in being most successful in learning and in order to be able to take assessments with their peers.  Wednesday, March 29th through Friday, March 31st, 3rd grade students will be taking the Cog-At test, in which information has previously been sent home. On Thursday, March 30th, all 5th grade students will be taking their spring NC Check-in for Science.  Please help us make their morning as smooth as possible to set them up to perform their best.

Beginning this week through Wednesday, April 5th, our PTO will be selling Spring Candy Grams which can be purchased for students or staff.  Spring Grams will be delivered to students and staff on Thursday, April 6th.  Thank you for supporting our RPES PTO.

We are trying out a new process this 4th quarter regarding transportation changes for students.  If you have a transportation change, written notification is required.  In addition to contacting your child’s teacher, we are asking for you to send an email to: rpe_info@pender.k12.nc.us preferably from an email address that we have listed in your student’s PowerSchool account.  In person checkouts with valid identification will still be permitted.
