5th Grade

Our 5th grade students have been hard at work preparing for this year’s Holidays Around the World Night, and their featured country is China. Over the past week, students have engaged in a research project designed to deepen their understanding of Chinese culture, traditions, and holiday celebrations.

Working in small groups, students explored a wide range of topics—from the history and symbolism of Chinese New Year and traditional foods, clothing, art, and regional customs. Using books, trusted digital resources, and classroom discussions, they learned how holidays in China reflect values such as family, gratitude, good fortune, and respect for ancestors.

We are proud of the effort our 5th graders have put into becoming “young cultural ambassadors” for China. We can’t wait for families to experience their work and explore the richness of Chinese holiday traditions during our Holidays Around the World Night on December 9th!

Math-

The students are working hard on Module 3 of Eureka Math, which is all about multiplying and dividing fractions. Throughout this module, the students have been using different models, such as area models, tape diagrams, and number lines, to understand how to multiply and divide fractions. The students have also been focusing on solving word problems using their critical thinking skills and key math vocabulary words. The students are working hard by practicing in their workbooks and engaging in meaningful math discussions.
