Fall Picture Day – Wednesday, August 27
Fall pictures will be taken on Wednesday, August 27. This is a great opportunity for students to capture a memory of the new school year. Information about purchasing packages and options will be sent home soon so families can review in advance.
Every Minute Matters
We want to remind families how important it is for students to be at school on time each morning and to stay until dismissal. Arriving late or leaving early causes students to miss valuable instruction, and every minute in the classroom adds up to stronger learning and success.

Make-Up Work Policy for Student Absences
To support consistency across our school, Penderlea has adopted a schoolwide make-up work policy. Students will now have two days to complete missed assignments for each day they are absent, depending on the availability of the lesson or materials.
This policy helps ensure that all students have a fair opportunity to stay on track with their learning while balancing the realities of being out of school. Thank you for helping your child follow up on any missed work promptly.
Paint the Penderlea Spirit Rock!
Families can now reserve and paint the Spirit Rock to celebrate birthdays, achievements, or show school spirit!
Reservations are $5 and must be made in the front office
Painting is allowed 4–7 PM the day before your reservation
Students must be supervised, and families must bring their own supplies
Messages must be school-appropriate, and the rock must be repainted after one week

Additional Tutoring Opportunity for Families
In addition to the supports provided by Pender County Schools, families can also take advantage of tutoring through UNCW’s Watson College of Education Ed Lab.
This fall, the Ed Lab is offering tutoring in reading and math for grades K–6. Sessions run twice a week, Sept. 2–Nov. 20, with a total of 20 sessions. The cost is $225.
