Hornet Nation T-Shirt Fundraiser
This is the LAST week for the Hornet Nation t-shirt fundraiser to support our general fund! Order forms were sent home with students, and orders can be placed now through Friday August 22nd.
Families can pay by cash or check (returned with the form) or order online using the link below. Please be sure to include your name and order details in the online order description.
These are the only school shirts being offered this year, so don’t miss out! Thank you for supporting our students and school!
Updated Student & Family Handbooks
Families are encouraged to review the updated Pender County Schools Student/Family Handbook for the 2025–2026 school year. This resource provides important information on district policies, expectations, and guidelines that apply to all PCS students.

Back to School Bingo – Tomorrow Night!
Join us for a fun evening at Back to School Bingo, hosted by Penderlea’s Beta Club! Come enjoy games, prizes, and time with our school community.

Softball Tryouts
Softball will hold tryouts Monday, August 18--Wednesday, August 20 and practice beginning on Thursday August 21
Tryouts are from 3:30-5:00 each day. Please have a ride at the softball field at 5:00
The girls will receive a letter on Wednesday at the end of tryouts stating if they made the team. Girls who make the team practice will start Thursday August 21.

Make-Up Work Policy for Student Absences
To support consistency across our school, Penderlea has adopted a schoolwide make-up work policy. Students will now have two days to complete missed assignments for each day they are absent, depending on the availability of the lesson or materials.
This policy helps ensure that all students have a fair opportunity to stay on track with their learning while balancing the realities of being out of school. Thank you for helping your child follow up on any missed work promptly.
Paint the Penderlea Spirit Rock!
Families can now reserve and paint the Spirit Rock to celebrate birthdays, achievements, or show school spirit!
Reservations are $5 and must be made in the front office
Painting is allowed 4–7 PM the day before your reservation
Students must be supervised, and families must bring their own supplies
Messages must be school-appropriate, and the rock must be repainted after one week
