Pender County Schools is inviting community members to help select the mascots for its newest schools, J.H. Lea Elementary and J.H. Lea Middle School, both scheduled to open in August 2027.
The new J.H. Lea schools will serve students from several existing campuses in the eastern part of the county. These schools (Topsail Annandale Elementary, South Topsail Elementary, and Topsail Middle) surveyed their students and the top results make up this poll.
The district is seeking feedback through a short online survey, which opened October 29 and closes November 12, 2025. Community members are encouraged to take part and help shape a small but meaningful piece of the schools’ future identity.
“These schools will represent a new chapter for many families in our community,” said Superintendent Dr. Brad Breedlove. “We want our mascots to reflect the pride, spirit, and unity that make Pender County Schools special.”
The survey is available on Google Forms at THIS LINK.
Feedback from the community will help the district finalize mascot selections later this school year.
