PENDER COUNTY, N.C. — Pender County Schools will dismiss students early from seven schools Tuesday, September 22, following a water line break along U.S. Highway 421 near Blueberry Road.
Pender County Utilities Director James Proctor notified the district of the break and that water pressure in the affected area is continuing to drop.
The following schools will dismiss students early:
Cape Fear Elementary School
Cape Fear Middle School
Heide Trask High School
Malpass Corner Elementary School
Pender High School
Pender Innovative Learning Academy
Rocky Point Elementary School
Families should expect to receive direct communication from their school regarding specific dismissal times, student pickup and transportation information.
Pender County Schools remains in communication with Pender County Utilities and will continue to monitor conditions as additional information becomes available.
At this time, the district plans to operate schools on a normal schedule Wednesday, September 23. Any changes to school operations will be communicated directly with families and staff.
Please note that all after-school activities at the affected schools are canceled for today.
