Principal Spotlight: Ms. Jill Robertson 🌟👩‍🏫 In recognition of National Principal Month, we are excited to highlight Ms. Jill Robertson, who has dedicated 24 years to education and is currently in her 6th year at North Topsail Elementary 📚✨. Ms. Robertson earned her degrees from Bowling Green State University and UNCW 🎓. In her free time, Ms. Robertson enjoys reading 📖, fishing 🎣, spending time at the beach 🏖️, and cherishing moments with her family 👨‍👩‍👦. Her favorite cuisines are Mexican 🌮 and seafood 🦐, with cheese and green peppers as her go-to pizza toppings 🍕. Before pursuing a career in education, she had diverse experiences, including working at her parents' convenience store and serving as an organist at her church 🎶. A talented musician, Ms. Robertson has a background as a band director and elementary music teacher, and she can play several instruments 🎼. She loves all types of music but will never change the channel when Kenny Chesney is playing 🎵. One fun fact about her is that she has twin boys who are also attending North Topsail Elementary, making their educational journey a shared family experience 👶👶. She can also back a boat up like nobody’s business! 🚤 A memorable moment in Ms. Robertson's career has been witnessing the incredible positive results from the dedicated staff at North Topsail Elementary, which inspires her every day 🤗. Her passion for education was sparked by her own wonderful music teachers, and she is committed to providing similar experiences for her students 🎶❤️. We are thankful for leaders like Ms. Robertson who foster a nurturing and enthusiastic environment in our schools! 🌟👏

Pender County School Families, Today a few school districts in North Carolina were affected by false reports of violence on their campuses. We have been in contact with local law enforcement and there is no credible threat to any of our schools. It appears to be part of a hoax known as “swatting.” While Pender County Schools has not experienced this issue directly, we know the message is circulating on social media and that many of our families may be understandably concerned about school safety. Please know that our top priority is the safety and well-being of our students and staff. We take any and all reports of potential threats seriously, and we are making every effort to maintain an environment where students and staff feel safe. We would like to continue to remind our students and school community, if you see something, “Say Something” using our reporting system located on the main webpage of every school as well as the Pender County Schools mobile app. Also always report, don’t repost. Sharing false information, making threats, and engaging in online harassment are serious offenses that can have severe consequences. The first week of school was filled with teaching and learning throughout the building! Students learned how to SWIM to success and did lots of activities to build a positive classroom community. In addition to all of that, they discovered our sensory walk, practiced echo reading, followed a model of how to write an overall main statement, reviewed punctuation rules, read poetry in pairs and solved multiplication with a tape diagram! 📚🍟 Fries for School Supplies is Back! 🍟📚 We are excited to announce that for the second year in a row, our local McDonald’s owner-operators are hosting the Fries for School Supplies fundraiser in our school district! Last year, over $110,000 was raised for our area schools, and we’re aiming to do even more this year! 🎉 From August 26th to 30th, McDonald’s will donate 10% of sales from all a la carte Fries to help support our schools. It’s a delicious way to contribute to our community! 🙌

✂️ Back-to-School Haircuts! ✂️ Cape Fear Community College is offering free haircuts this Saturday, August 24, from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Barber School located at 108 Walnut St. No appointments needed—just walk in! All haircuts will be supervised by a licensed instructor and are first-come, first-served. Remember, students under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Get ready for the new school year with a fresh look!
