Families, please be aware that afternoon bus routes may be delayed today due to several non-school related traffic accidents in the Highway 17 area. Some cleanup efforts are still ongoing, which may impact transportation this afternoon.
Our transportation team is monitoring the situation and will work to get students home safely and as efficiently as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Congratulations to one of our 5th grade students, Emma, whose artwork was chosen for the Superintendent Award and will represent our school on Saturday at Spring Fest in Burgaw!
The Pender Spring Festival is proud to celebrate 47 years of community tradition in the heart of Burgaw’s historic Courthouse Square. This beloved annual event brings together residents and visitors for a day filled with local creativity, entertainment, and family fun.
Families can enjoy kids’ games and activities, and festivalgoers can enjoy the artwork on display from PCS students.

Students have loved open checkout time, and it’s been so sweet to watch our school community in action. Siblings are helping each other pick out just-right books, and our 5th graders have been amazing mentors, guiding their Kindergarten friends as they explore the shelves.

UNCW’s Junior Seahawk Academy is back for Summer 2026 with hands-on experiences in STEM, healthcare, and teacher education. Students will explore real-world learning through live demonstrations and interactive activities.

💜 April is the Month of the Military Child 💜
At North Topsail Elementary, we are proud to honor and celebrate the strength, resilience, and sacrifices of our military-connected students. With 160 military children in our school community, their impact is felt every single day.
Military children face unique challenges. Frequent moves, new schools, and time apart from loved ones, yet they continue to show courage, adaptability, and kindness in all they do.
Throughout the month of April, we recognize and appreciate these incredible students for their service and sacrifice alongside their families. 💜

Students explored how scientists identify different species by using dichotomous keys and field guides, just like real marine biologists. Through these activities, they learned to observe key characteristics, such as shell shape, size, and patterns, to identify different types of sea turtles accurately.

Ms. Elizabeth Fulbright teaches 4th grade at North Topsail Elementary. A former student shared how much of an impact she had during their time in her class.
The student said Ms. Fulbright taught them the importance of being quiet, respectful, and working hard. They described her as one of the most inspiring teachers they’ve had.
In their nomination, the student reflected on how they look back on 4th grade as a time when school felt easier and enjoyable. They remembered Ms. Fulbright’s kindness and the way she made learning fun while still setting clear expectations.
