Our Eagles of the Week for this week were recognized for being respectful. Way to SOAR! Also, this week's attendance report is attached. It is a close challenge!! Families - get those eagles to the nest on time everyday. It is a close race!!

Nurse Harrell has been a huge part of our Eagle Family since 2020 ("The Year of Craziness" as she called it.) During her time at MCE, she supported all of our Eagles and participated in a lot of shenanigans! After working with our students and becoming a mom to her own little Eagle, she has decided she wants to become a nurse midwife. With her new life path, Nurse Harrell's last day with us was last Friday and her family is moving to the UNC Hospital area. Nurse Harrell asked "please let it be known how much I love these kids and how much I'm going to miss everyone." We wish Nurse Harrell the best! (We have a new nurse, Amy Peterson, and we will share more information when she officially starts at MCE.)

Please join us for our upcoming Special Education Parent Advisory Committee #ExperienceTheExcellence

Our unplanned twins for this week happen to also be best friends! We made sure Mrs. Forinash & Mrs. Randall didn't switch-a-roo today! 😀

Ms. Beatty (K Instructional Assistant), Mrs. Vissering (3rd grade), Mrs. Locklear (Assistant Principal) & Mrs. Henry (Helping Hand) are our SOARing Staff of the Week for last week & this week! We appreciate our Eagle Staff!

Congratulations to these 8 Eagles chosen to be part of the All County Chorus. These Eagles will be singing with students from each elementary school in Pender County. There will be a concert on April 26 at Heide Trask High School. Time: TBD.

Sometimes, you come to work and you find your work twin! We'll keep an eye out on these two today to make sure they don't try a switch-a-roo on us!

Today students in 1st and 3rd grades (and a few others) were treated to eye screenings in the library. If your student needs follow up, you will receive a letter this week. (Otherwise, no news is good news.) If you have any questions, please reach out to your teacher.

The Eagle's Nest is quiet today! Here are a few leftover pictures from spirit week. Eagles - enjoy your time at home and read a book!

During this time of year, one of Mrs. Casha's favorite activities is the Icelandic Christmas Eve tradition of Jolabokaflod" or "The Christmas Book Flood" where families snuggle in for the evening reading a book while drinking something warm and eating chocolate. (Tell your kiddos, for this ONE event, Mrs. Casha will allow eating and drinking with books as long as they are very careful!! ) Mrs. Casha wishes everyone to participate in "Jolabokaflod" over the entire winter break. Happy Reading!

Alright MCE Eagle Families!! We dressed them in pajamas today and we're sending them home early! They're ready for a long winter's nap!
