Congratulations to our DREAMKeeper of the Week, Mrs. Zorio!
Mrs. Zorio does an exceptional job in the classroom. She is very well organized and builds awesome relationships with her students. She is finishing her beginning teacher cycle this year and it is evident that she has continually grown over the course of her career.

Mrs. Lugene Henry started driving for Pender County Schools nearly 28 years ago. Mrs. Henry currently drives bus 316 for Heide Trask High School, PILA, and Malpass Corner Elementary. Mrs. Henry is a very dependable driver and is optimistic and excited to serve our student body every day. We've reached the end of our series! Thank you so much to all of the wonderful bus drivers of HTHS.
Mrs. Janine Hand, Bus Driver of 312, began driving part-time for Pender County Schools in 1987. In 1992, she was hired full-time. In addition to driving for Heide Trask High School, Mrs. Hand has driven for Rocky Point Elementary, Burgaw Elementary, Cape Fear Elementary, Cape Fear Middle, and Pender High Schools. In 2019, Mrs. Hand was honored as the top bus driver in the region by earning the Emma Witherspoon Bus Driver of the Year. Life has really come full circle for Mrs. Hand in that she has gotten the opportunity to work with Mr. Hudson, the Principal of Trask High School. Mrs. Hand was once Mr. Hudson’s bus driver as he is a product of Pender County Schools. Mrs. Hand has spent countless years serving Pender County Schools and we thank her for all that she does. She truly goes above and beyond every day to serve our students. Please take time to personally thank her or her write her a letter thanking her for all she does.

Our bus drivers are so amazing, we couldn't contain the appreciation to one week!
The spotlight series continues today with Mrs. Teresa Blanks and Mrs. Cynthia Moore. In terms of combined experience, these ladies have worked together for 47 years. Mrs. Blanks has been with Pender County Schools since 2001, which gives her a total of 22 years as a bus driver and cafeteria worker.
Mrs. Moore has been with Pender County Schools since 1999, which gives her 24 years of experience as a bus driver, bus monitor, and cafeteria worker. There is no substitute for work experience, especially experience that relates solely to one place.
These ladies have been through the good and bad times together, and they still show up excited to serve our students every day. We thank you both for your service to Pender County Schools.

Parents of our Seniors, we need your help! Please have your Senior bring in their college acceptance letter and any scholarships they may have received from any and all colleges. We want to celebrate them and all of their accomplishments.

Our spotlight series continues with Mr. McIntyre who drives Bus 249.
Mr. Mclntyre is currently finishing his 9th year driving for Pender County Schools and has been regarded as one of the top bus drivers in the county by receiving bus driver of the year in 2019. A year prior, he gained attention from the district by winning the bus rodeo award. Mr. McIntyre is a very dependable bus driver and drives all throughout the school day and during the after-school hours to serve our students.
We are lucky to have Mr. McIntyre as a member of our team at Heide Trask High School. If you ride Mr. Mclntyre’s bus, please write him a letter or personally thank him for his service.
The spotlight series will continue to make sure we have celebrated all of our drivers.

And the winner is...Euphoria!
2023 HTHS Prom tickets will go on sale on April 3rd and will sell for $35 each.
On May 1st, they go to $40 each.
Guest Approval Forms will be available before Spring Break.
See Mrs. Cromartie or Mrs. Ash with any questions.

We will spend the rest of the week highlighting bus drivers and monitors. Today’s first feature will highlight the tri-pact team of Mrs. Tara Lumpkins, Mrs. Kisha Bannerman, and Mrs. Kia Beady.
Mrs. Tara Lumpkins is in her second year as a bus driver for Pender County Schools after driving for three years for Franklin County Schools. Prior to becoming a bus driver, Mrs. Lumpkins was in restaurant management. A mother of three, Mrs. Lumpkins’s philosophy is that educators and bus drivers should try to treat each of their kids as if they were their own. Mrs. Lumpkins has enjoyed her time thus far working for Pender County Schools and she credits that to her teammates and bus monitors, Mrs. Kisha Bannerman and Mrs. Kia Beady.
Mrs. Bannerman has been with Pender County Schools for 17 years and has served as both an exceptional children’s teacher assistant and bus monitor.
Mrs. Beady just started with Pender County Schools after previously serving in the healthcare profession.
All three of these ladies work really well together and are all assets to Heide Trask High School and Pender County Schools. We are grateful for all you do for Trask County.
If you ride Mrs. Lumpkins's bus, please take time to write her, as well as Mrs. Bannerman and Mrs. Beady, a letter thanking them for all that they do for you on a daily basis.
Please check back later today for more bus driver appreciation highlights.

State Employees Credit Union Scholarship is due to Mrs. Yates by March 1st. Seniors and parents can review all scholarship offerings in their Google Classroom.

Parents please encourage your student to participate in our Job Shadow Day on February 28th. Students will receive an excused absence for this day with a completed application. Applications can be found in Student Services or at the front desk.
