Cape Fear Elementary School

Science just got a little crabby—in the best way! 🦀 Our 4th graders welcomed fiddler crabs into their habitats. Some of our students were a little shy at first, just like the tiny crabs, but their curiosity quickly grew!

Each month, the Administrative Team at CFE selects one staff member for the Crystal Apple Award—a recognition given to someone who has made a positive impact on our students and staff and who consistently goes above and beyond to make CFE a better place.

This month, we are proud to recognize Mrs. Mary Younginer!

Mrs. Younginer has provided exceptional support to our Kindergarten teachers and assistants. As our EC Lead, she has also collaborated closely with the Administrative Team to ensure our students' needs are met with care and excellence. Her dedication, teamwork, and commitment to student success truly exemplify the spirit of this award.

Thank you, Mrs. Younginer, for all that you do!

Mrs Robertson's class have been diving deep into the First Six Weeks study by teaching strategies. They have focused on identifying emotions, the causes, and/or solutions. They have also been working on developing fine motor skills through art, writing and math activities. Check out some of the activities used to develop skills in these areas. 

During math small group rotations Ms. Johnson’s class practiced identifying numbers, one to one correspondence , identifying shapes and creating those shapes with painted velcro popsicle sticks!

Mrs Robertsons class worked with numbers and shapes during math groups. Children had to count how many bears in each group and add them together. For shapes children worked with manipulative and discovered that basic shapes can create different objects or animals

Mrs. Johnson’s class had fun today jumping into math concepts with hands on activities using number lines.
