Ms. Smith and Ms. Hill's 3rd grade classes - Exploring the phases of the moon with Oreos!

Kindergarten has been working hard in Eureka Squared Module 4. 🧮Check out these guys building their decomposition skills by playing Shake Those Disks and using pattern blocks to compose shapes in more than one way! 🧩We love seeing that teamwork and those creative problem solving brains 🧠 at work!

It's a great day to have your nose in a book!

Dr. Breedlove stopped in for a visit this morning and we couldn't pass up a quick photo-op with Ms. Terry's class.

Kindergarten has been exploring the different elements that make a good story. They have been learning about the different parts such as the characters, setting, problem, response to the problem, and the resolution. They have been learning how to use our texts as a tool and how why the author puts the events in a certain order. We have been using all these to create our own class narrative. The students are becoming authors and illustrators to create their own story!

2024 Kindergarten and Pre-School Community Event.

Mrs. Hewlett & Mrs. Dotson's kindergarten class participated in a Socratic Seminar for Wisdom & Wisdom explaining what story elements make "The Three Little Pigs, "The Little Red Hen", & "The Three Billy Goats Gruff" a good story.

Mrs. Hewlett & Mrs. Dotson's Kindergarten class made homemade Bread and Butter today just like the in "The Little Red Hen" from Module 2 in Wit & Wisdom. 🐓 🍞 🧈
They had the best time measuring & mixing the ingredients for the bread and we had so much fun singing, dancing, and shaking the heavy whipping cream to make butter! We love to have fun while learning!

Here’s a little update on what kindergarten has been up to in Wit and Wisdom.
Kindergarten has been working hard during Wit & Wisdom, becoming experts on the Little Red Hen! 📖This week they’ve focused on identifying the essential meaning, problems & resolutions, and retelling the story with partners! They even practiced active listening with a fun game of telephone! 📞
There were some mixed reviews on if these guys would share their bread or not with their friends that didn’t pitch in to help. What would you do if you were the Little Red Hen? 🐓🍞🌾
