This week marked an exciting start to the 21st CCLC program with students taking part in a hands-on STEM activity: the Stacking Cup Challenge. Working in groups, students used only a piece of string attached to a rubber band to stack cups into a pyramid. They weren’t allowed to touch the cups with their hands and had to rely entirely on teamwork and communication.

🌈🎨 Kindergarten artists from Mrs. Rogers' class explored rainbows and painting today in Art! Look at those amazing skills and the beautiful artwork they created. 💕👏

Today Mrs. Johnson’s class had a special visit from one of the leaders of CFE! Mrs. Hopkins explained her role as assistant principal and all she does to help
our principal Mrs. Smith run our school effectively. The students asked tons of questions and they learned so much! She also read us a story and can’t wait until she comes to visit us again!

🎉 We are excited to share that Burgaws Best Parents Night Out event raised $550 for the Cape Fear Elementary PTO! 🎉
Thank you to all the families who joined in the fun and helped raise money towards our new Art Tables.

Half of 5th grade went on a field trip to Masonboro Island today to explore seashells, crabbing, and ecosystems. The other half will take their field trip next Monday!

Our 5th graders took on the Suspend challenge — and they nailed it! Steady hands, teamwork, and lots of laughter made this activity a success. Way to rise to the challenge, 5th grade!

Math groups in Mrs. Johnson’s class are always an adventure! Counting, quantifying & sorting with numbers & shapes!

Let's CHANGE THE TABLES with a Coin War!!
9/22-10/3 Bring in your change and help your grade win a pizza party!
🎨🐻Thank you for your support!🐻🎨

🌟 Feature Friday🌟
Today we celebrate Keelin Reyes, an EC Instructional Assistant at Cape Fear Elementary, who is recognized for her dedication, advocacy, and the positive impact she makes on students and staff alike. Keelin consistently goes above and beyond her role, serving as a strong advocate for EC students while also supporting all children in the classroom. Her calm presence not only helps students feel more regulated but also inspires admiration and trust from those she works with every day.
Keelin’s influence extends beyond her direct work with students. She takes the time to ensure her colleagues are supported, checking in with teachers and staff to keep everyone aligned on EC support and classroom needs. Her guidance and willingness to share knowledge create a collaborative, encouraging environment where both students and colleagues thrive.
💛💙 Thank you, Keelin, for your commitment, compassion, and for being such an important part of the Cape Fear Elementary community!

Friday fun in Music!

Mrs Robertsons preschool class is midway in their "First Six Weeks" study. They continued the study by having a guest that works at the school come to visit. The fabulous Nurse Shelley came ready to answer questions and share what she does for them at school. Children gathered to create questions for the nurse prior to the visit. Together they studied the tools she had and listened to the ways we can stay healthy. Their learning was extended as they mapped out what they learned by questions answered.

3rd grade created models of land and water on earth.

Ms. Grochan’s class celebrated earning their first 25 paw prints with an extra recess yesterday—and the beautiful weather made it even better!

Today Mrs. Johnson’s curriculum called for a special visitor to discuss their special skill. We had a wonderful discussion on what rules Ms. Alison has to follow as cafeteria manager. This helped the students make connections between any rules that our the same as the classroom rules. We are working so hard to build classroom community, learn expectations and follow our schools behavior matrix system.

Mrs. Johnson’s class is working hard to learn name recognition & identity through several different hands on learning concepts that include tracing, writing, sorting, building, rainbow coloring & gluing.
