West Pender Middle School is proud to recognize Ms. McKay, a dedicated 6th grade math teacher, as the 2025–2026 Teacher of the Year. This honor celebrates her commitment to academic excellence, student growth, and her positive impact on the school community.
McKay, who teaches sixth grade mathematics at West Pender Middle School, is known by students and colleagues for her engaging instruction and unwavering support of learners. In addition to teaching math, she also serves as an advisory coordinator, helping guide students academically and personally as they transition into middle school.
Throughout her time at West Pender Middle, McKay has built a reputation for creating a classroom environment where students feel supported and challenged. She works to make mathematics approachable and meaningful, encouraging students to develop confidence in their abilities and a strong problem-solving mindset. Her lessons emphasize collaboration, critical thinking, and real-world connections that help students see the value of math beyond the classroom.
