WPMS Students Connect with Archaeologists Through Virtual Learning Experience
6th grade students in Ms. Christoff's social studies classes recently had an exciting opportunity to step beyond the classroom and into the world of archaeology through a virtual visit made possible by Skype a Scientist.
During the interactive sessions, students connected with two different archaeologists who shared their expertise and experiences from the field. Among the guest speakers was Dr. Wendrich, an accomplished archaeologist and Egyptologist who serves as a professor at University of California, Los Angeles. Students also met Dane Roberts, an engaging archaeologist from Georgia Southern University who specializes in East Asian archaeology.
Each speaker offered unique perspectives on excavation work, research methods, and the discoveries that continue to shape our understanding of the past. Students eagerly asked questions about fieldwork adventures, surprising finds, and the educational paths that led each archaeologist to their career.
Programs like Skype a Scientist allow students to connect directly with experts from around the world, bringing history and science to life in meaningful and memorable ways. WPMS is proud to provide enriching experiences that spark curiosity, inspire big questions, and encourage students to explore future career possibilities.
