Hello Warrior Families,
PCS Month of Awareness: This week, we recognize Special Needs Awareness, honoring individuals who live with special needs and celebrating their strength, resilience, and contributions. Special Needs Awareness is about understanding different abilities and learning how we can create inclusive environments for everyone. Over 15% of the world’s population experiences some type of special need, reminding us of the importance of empathy and advocacy. Together, let’s continue to break social barriers and build a community of understanding and support across Warrior Nation.
Upcoming Healthcare Awareness Day – Friday, October 31st - On Friday, October 31st, our 6th-grade students will participate in an exciting Healthcare Awareness Event hosted by UNC Chapel Hill and the UNC Health Ingram Institute, in partnership with Pender County Schools Career and Technical Education (CTE).The event will take place in the Burgaw Middle School Gym, where students will explore healthcare careers through a series of hands-on, interactive activity stations. As part of the experience, students will complete a short career interest survey. If you prefer for your child not to participate in the survey portion, please indicate that on the field trip form. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn more about the many pathways available in the healthcare field and to spark curiosity about their future careers.
Flu Vaccine Clinic – October 30: We’re pleased to share that the Pender County Health Department, in collaboration with Pender County Schools, will once again offer flu shots at each school this fall.
West Pender Middle will host the clinic on October 30, 2025.
Please return completed consent forms by October 15, 2025.
Paper forms were sent home with students, or you can complete the online form below.
If you have any questions, please contact Nurse Freeman.
