Weekly Warrior Message 05/04/2025

Hello Warrior Families,

This week marks the start of End-of-Grade (EOG) testing, and we need your partnership more than ever. West Pender Middle is a school on the rise—but we cannot do it alone. These state exams are critical to demonstrating what our students know and are capable of, and your support at home makes all the difference.

Here’s how you can help:

Make sure your child is at school every day—on time and ready to review.
Help them get a good night’s sleep (8–10 hours is best for middle schoolers).
Provide a healthy breakfast. Even something small like toast, fruit, or a granola bar can make a big difference in focus and energy.
Remember that ALL WPMS students eat breakfast free.
Encourage a positive attitude. A calm, confident start to the day sets the tone.

EOG Testing Dates:

Friday, May 9 – Math EOG (Grades 6–8)
Tuesday, May 13 – Reading EOG (Grades 6–8)
Thursday, May 15 – 8th Grade Science EOG

Volunteer Opportunity – We Need You!

Help us create a calm and secure testing environment by volunteering as a proctor. We need support on May 9, 13, and 15 from 7:30 AM–12:00 PM. You can volunteer for one day or all three! A short training is required. A form was sent home with your child—please return it if you're able to help. Or, simply contact your child’s Leadership Advisory teacher or Dr. Jordan to sign up: tasheka_jordan@pender.k12.nc.us.
