Maddox Kelly, a rising junior at Topsail High School, is working hard this summer at his internship with Onslow Bay Boats. He has almost completed his 120 hour internship and course work to receive an internship credit. Maddox is learning how to build offshore and tournament edition center console boats from start to finish. Onslow Bay has been a huge supporter of our student internship program and Pathways to Careers business supporter. Pender County is excited to be partnering with a graduate from Pender County Schools and we look forward to working with them for years to come.

Dante Putrino is a rising senior who completed his welding certification his junior year at CFCC. This summer he is taking part in a summer internship where he will complete 120 hours of welding, complete course work and a micro credential in employability/soft skills. He has been hard at work since school let out and has almost completed all his required hours. Owner of LJ Metal Works, who is sponsoring the internship, is impressed with Dante and his welding skills. Thank you LJ Metal Works for being willing to take on a summer intern and supporting Dante in his career goals. Pender County schools is excited about our future partnerships.

Congratulations to Topsail HOSA students. Last night students were recognized for their hard work this school year. Seniors received their graduation stoles and the new officer team took office. Mrs. Wells and Ms. Gleaves, our HOSA advisors, dedication and support truly make our HOSA program a success.
