Mrs. Withers' class planted grass seed during their garden study; they're hoping their grass will grow tall enough before the end of school so they can "mow" their lawns!
Your child's behavior may challenge you. It's okay. A change in routine can be stressful for a child. Children show they are upset the only way they know how — through their behavior. Don't take it personally when they act out. Pause, breathe, then respond.
Self-care is not selfish. It is an act of love. Taking care of your health and well-being ensures you are prepared physically and mentally to care for your child.
It's very hard to hide your feelings from your children. And you don't need to, as long as you don't leave them alone with theirs. Do your best to handle your feelings so you can help them manage theirs.

Information overload is real. Take breaks from watching, reading, or listening to the news stories, including social media.
Exercise regularly, eat healthy balanced meals, and get plenty of sleep. Breathe deeply, stretch, or meditate.
Come on out to Heide Trask High Wednesday from 4:30-7 for a Kindergarten Registration Carnival! 14328 NC Hwy 210, Rocky Point. We will have games, prizes and food trucks. Families can get assistance with kindergarten registration! Preschool staff will be there with information on applying for Pre-K as well. Even if you've already completed your registration, come on out for the fun!!
Remember that this current situation will not last forever. It is okay to look to the future. This is just a moment in time.
Pender County Schools is having a Kindergarten Registration Carnival on March 11th from 4:30-7:00PM at Heide Trask High for rising Kindergarten children (5 years old by August 31) to be able to meet their school administrators and Kindergarten teachers; school nurses will be there as well to discuss any medical needs of your child; and data mangers will be there to assist in the registration process if needed.
We will have carnival games and food trucks as well as free popcorn and cotton candy! We hope to see you there-please see the attached flyer for the details.
Think about the things that make you feel better, such as songs, family meals, prayers, hugs, or seeing the world through your child's eyes. Do them often.
Mrs Robertson's preschool class at CFES is continuing their insect study. During large group they had to experiment with working in groups and moving like an insect with six legs and three body parts. One group was a spider with 8 legs. Children engaged in activities including write the room, measuring insects, writing letters/words in salt, counting insects, painting ladybugs, and much more.
Hold onto familiar routines whenever possible to ground you and your family.
Focus on what you do know and on what you can do now.
Children at Surf City began the Pets study on Friday. They're already excited about working in a Veterinarian's office!
Think about the people you turn to in difficult times. Reach out to them now by phone, text, or computer. Maintaining your connections will get you through.

Because of the expected winter weather across our area this weekend, Pender County Schools will have a “snow day” on Monday, February 2nd.
A decision regarding Tuesday’s schedule will be announced at a later date to allow us to check on facilities and travel conditions. Teachers will prepare their students for the possibility of a remote learning day, we ask that families be prepared as well. Announcements will be made using our normal channels.
