💙📚 A Busy Day of Learning in Preschool! ✨ It was a busy and purposeful day in Mrs. Johnson’s preschool class at Cape Fear Elementary School! Our scholars explored what it means to be “kind” and discussed ways to be a good friend. 🤝🏾💙 Through creating friendship bracelets, identifying letters and their characteristics, and practicing letter formation, our scholars strengthened their social-emotional, literacy, and fine-motor skills. ✏️📖 We ended the day with math exploration, measuring our towers and comparing them using words such as bigger, smaller, biggest, smallest, and equal! 📏🧱 At PCS Preschool, we believe in Excellence from the Start — One Team, Every Child, Every Opportunity. 🌟 Every conversation builds character. 🍂🎃🦋 Fall Learning in Action! 👩🏾‍🍳✨ Ms. Baxter’s preschool scholars at South Topsail Elementary are learning, creating, and imagining through purposeful, hands-on experiences! From using fine-motor skills and persistence to build pumpkin towers, to expressing their creativity through beautiful butterflies, our scholars are developing skills while having fun. Through “I Spy Fall,” they are strengthening observation, vocabulary, and early thinking skills. And from crayons to careers, our little chefs are using their imaginations to explore what their future could hold! 👩🏾‍🍳✨ At PCS Preschool, we believe in Excellence from the Start. 🌞🛝 Play, Explore, Learn! 🌿✨ Our preschool scholars are making the most of recess! Through active play, our scholars are building gross-motor skills, coordination, balance, communication, cooperation, and problem-solving skills—all while having fun with their friends. Recess is more than a break; it is an important part of early childhood learning and development. 🎨✨ Tiny Painters, BIG Learning! ✨🎨 Mrs. Kristin Smith’s preschool class at South Topsail Elementary School put their creativity to work as our little artists explored the joy of painting! 🖌️🌈 Through this hands-on experience, students strengthened their fine-motor skills, hand-eye coordination, creativity, and self-expression while making choices, exploring colors, and having fun. Every brushstroke is a learning opportunity! We love watching our preschoolers create, explore, and grow through play. 💙

🌈 Learning Through Play in Preschool! 🧩 Mrs. Kimberly Hayes’ preschool class at South Topsail Elementary had a fun-filled day of hands-on learning! Our students practiced sorting colors, counting objects, and building towers while developing important early math, problem-solving, fine-motor, and social-emotional skills. Every activity was an opportunity to explore, think, create, and learn! We love seeing our preschoolers engaged, curious, and excited about learning. 💙📚 Learning is happening every day in Preschool!

Our Surf City preschool friends worked together this morning to complete a puzzle! 🧩 They practiced teamwork, problem-solving, sharing, and taking turns while learning through play. We love seeing our little learners grow, explore, and work together! 💛

Surf City Elementary School: Yesterday, Ms. Meadows's class listened to the story "Ain't Gonna Paint No More" and had a lesson on how to use the paint easel. Today, we read Too Much Glue, and students made self-portraits and used "Just a dot, not a lot" of glue to decorate their person, with clothing made from scrap materials in the center.

🌟 Building Our Classroom Community at Cape Fear Elementary! 🏫💙 Mrs. Robertson and Ms. Henry’s classes are learning that a strong school community starts with knowing one another and understanding how we all work together! 🌳 Leaving Our Mark at CF Pope! 💚 Today, our preschoolers added their fingerprints to the CF Pope school mural, each fingerprint becoming a leaf on the school tree. A beautiful reminder that every child is an important part of our school community, and their mark will remain for years to come! 🍃🎨 Little hands. Lasting memories. A legacy that grows. 🌱✨

🌟 Student Spotlight 🌟

Sophia is a Pre-K student at Cape Fear Elementary School, recognized for her kindness and leadership.

Sophia looks for ways to help her classmates, including students who are learning English. When a classmate is upset and speaking Spanish, Sophia will sometimes help translate so her teachers can better understand what the student needs. She also sets a good example by following school expectations and helping remind her classmates of classroom routines.

Her teachers have noticed the care Sophia shows for others and her willingness to help classmates feel understood and included. 💙

Outside of the classroom, Sophia enjoys drawing 🎨, playing with Play-Doh, and just about anything involving art. She also loves spending time outside with her friends. Her favorite foods are chicken nuggets and cheese pizza 🍕, and her favorite color is pink 💗.

One interesting fact about Sophia—she loves hugs, especially when she’s having a tough moment, and often shows that same care for others through hugs and drawings. 🫶🎨

💗 Thank you, Sophia, for the kindness and leadership you show at Cape Fear Elementary School.

Twenty-five years later, we remember.

On September 11, 2001, thousands of lives were lost, families were forever changed, and first responders answered an unimaginable call.

Today, Pender County Schools pauses to remember those who died, honor those who served and sacrificed in the years that followed, and recognize the families and communities who continue to carry the impact of that day.

For our students, September 11 is history. It is our responsibility to help them understand why we remember.

🏥 IMPORTANT SCHOOL HEALTH REMINDER

The Sept. 22 deadline is quickly approaching for required health forms and immunizations.
📌 Incoming Kindergarten students and students who enrolled from out of state must provide their school nurse with:
• A completed NC Health Assessment Form from within the past calendar year
• A copy of their updated immunization record

💉 All 7th and 12th grade students also have required immunizations that must be completed by Sept. 22.

Please contact your school nurse with any questions or to make sure your student’s records are complete.
