PECHS House Donation Drive

Burgaw, NC — Pender Early College High School (PECHS) is hosting a series of community drives over the next two months as part of its House competition program, encouraging students to actively engage with the local community while supporting area nonprofit organizations.

Each PECHS house selected a different nonprofit to support and is responsible for organizing, promoting, and collecting donations throughout its designated drive week. Students are leading outreach efforts within the community to raise awareness and gather needed items for each organization.

“We want students to reach out to their community—not their parents—for these events and build stronger partnerships with both our community and local nonprofits,” said Daniel Sidor, principal of Pender Early College High School.

Donations collected during each drive will be tracked daily as part of the House competition. In addition to collection efforts, students are responsible for advertising their drives and educating others about the mission of their selected nonprofit.

The impact of each house’s efforts will be highlighted during the PECHS House Fair on April 10. During the event, students will present trifold displays showcasing the nonprofit they supported, the items collected, and the overall contributions made through their drive. The House Fair will serve as a celebration of student service and an opportunity for the school community to learn more about local organizations supported through the initiative.

Community members are also invited to recognize student leadership and service by nominating a student for Seawolf of the Month. Nominations may be submitted through the PECHS website at pender.k12.nc.us/o/pechs/page/nominate-a-studentstaff-member. Students may be nominated for their efforts in raising awareness, organizing donations, or contributing significantly to their house’s nonprofit drive.
