Ms Betty next to the Christmas Tree

Pender Early College High School (PECHS) will soon say goodbye to a beloved member of its school family. Betty Schedler, a long-time Instructional Assistant, will retire this December after years of dedicated service to students, staff, and the community.

Known affectionately by students as “Ms. Betty,” her connection to PECHS began even before her official role on staff. Betty was a member of the PECHS staff volleyball team, which won a championship. Shortly after that victory, she officially joined the PECHS staff. Since October 2019, Betty has consistently gone above and beyond to care for and support PECHS students and staff.

Betty shared her love of volleyball by starting a student volleyball club, where students raise money for local charities while competing in tournaments. She also made a meaningful impact through her work with Alzheimer’s awareness, founding an Alzheimer’s club that raises funds for the Alzheimer’s Association and participates in community walks.

Betty’s dedication is reflected in the countless “little things” she does that make a big difference. She faithfully highlights Students and Staff Members of the Month on the school bulletin board, showcases PECHS athletes each season, and celebrates their accomplishments. Betty is also often the first to organize collections to celebrate staff milestones or support colleagues in times of need.

Betty Schedler’s compassion, commitment, and positivity have left a lasting mark on Pender Early College High School. She will be deeply missed, and the PECHS community wishes her the very best in her well-earned retirement. On behalf of the students, staff, and community of PECHS, Thank You Ms Betty!
