Adaptive Science Fair Recognitions
Heide Trask High School held our 2nd Annual Adaptive Science Fair on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 in the HTHS Media Center. The heart of the library was pumping with "egg-citement," joy, and inclusion. With such colorful displays, happy music, and  the sweet smells of citrus, the only cloud in sight was one that happened to be "in a jar!"  Students, parents, HTHS staff, district leaders, and even Dr. Breedlove supported our students yesterday by attending the fair, judging projects, or simply cheering on our young scientists!  We are so grateful for the community spirit not only in Titan Town, but throughout Pender County Schools (#onepender), and we are certain this event will live in our memories for a very long time!
Highlighted winners and notable projects:
  • Picture Memory — 1st Place ( Hunter, Brooke, Jae'Quan, Ms. Graham)

  • How Does Music Affect Your Mood? — 2nd Place ( Ya'sson, Sergio, Ayden , Ms. Filion)

  • How Does Exercise Affect Heart Rate? — 3rd Place (Isaiah, Marco, Guyson, Ms. Hutnik)

Special recognitions (engaging, creative work):
  • Which Fruit or Vegetable Makes the Best Battery? — Detailed Observations ( Jake, Ruben, Ms. Patenaude)

  • How Do Different Drinks Affect Teeth? — Life Changing Discovery  (Jackson, Ty'rek, Tyrese, Ms. Parlier)

  • Cloud in a Jar — Best Visual Presentation ( Mayte, Landon, Nathan, Ms. Bannerman, Mr.McCready)

All projects showcased curiosity, perseverance, and teamwork. They will remain on display in the HTHS library until April 2, 2026.
Once again, thank you to the students for their hard work and to the families and staff who encouraged and supported them. We are proud of every participant! On April 24, 2026, students in our HTHS adaptive program will trade in their lab coats for athletic gear as they take on the PCS Special Olympics Games. We enjoyed supporting you in the "laboratory," and we can't wait to support you in Titan Stadium! Go Titans!
