We want to provide you with an update on the indoor air quality testing at C.F. Pope and our plans for Open House tomorrow.
We received results today from the air quality testing conducted Tuesday. While many of the results were encouraging, there are some pre-k through 2nd grade classrooms where we want additional testing before allowing those spaces to be used.
Those classrooms and the affected hallway will remain closed while this additional testing takes place.
The area will be retested Thursday, August 20, and we expect to receive those results Friday. We will share another update with families once those results have been reviewed.
Open House will take place as scheduled Thursday. Teachers whose classrooms (prek - 2nd grade) are in the area being retested will meet with their students and families in the gymnasium instead of their classrooms. The affected hallway will be closed and will not be accessible during Open House.
We understand that families may have questions about why we are moving forward with Open House while additional testing is being conducted. The areas requiring additional testing can be closed off from the rest of the school, and we will not use those spaces until we are satisfied with the results.
Our first day of school is Monday, August 24. The additional testing gives us time to determine what, if any, further steps are needed before students return.
We appreciate your patience as we work through this process. We said we would keep you informed as we received additional information, and we will continue to do that.
We look forward to seeing our C.F. Pope families at Open House Thursday.
