Burgaw, NC — C.F. Pope Elementary School is proud to announce that its National Beta Club has been recognized as a 2025–2026 National Beta School of Merit, an honor that celebrates schools whose Beta chapters exemplify academic excellence, leadership, service, and character.
The National Beta School of Merit Award is presented to schools that have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to the mission and ideals of National Beta. This prestigious recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of the school's Beta members, sponsors, faculty, and administration in fostering student leadership and creating meaningful opportunities for service within the school and community.
The 2025–2026 school year also marks a significant milestone for C.F. Pope Elementary's National Beta Club. Earlier this year, the school proudly reinstated its chapter after years of inactivity, welcoming 22 outstanding students during its first induction ceremony since the chapter was originally chartered on December 31, 1969. Receiving the School of Merit Award in the chapter's first year back is a remarkable accomplishment and a testament to the dedication of everyone involved.
"Our students have embraced what it truly means to be Beta members by leading with integrity, serving others, and striving for excellence in everything they do," said Principal Brittany Moore. "This recognition reflects the culture of leadership and high expectations we continue to build at C.F. Pope Elementary. We are incredibly proud of our students and grateful to our sponsors and staff who have invested in making our Beta chapter such a success."
The chapter, sponsored by Assistant Principal Monica Ruffin, has quickly become a source of pride for the school, encouraging students to develop leadership skills, participate in service projects, and represent the Panther community with excellence.
As C.F. Pope Elementary continues to empower students to Lead, Learn, and Grow, the National Beta School of Merit Award serves as another example of the school's commitment to developing future leaders both inside and outside the classroom.
