After several years of dormancy, C.F. Pope Elementary School proudly celebrates the reinstatement of its National Beta Club, marking a renewed commitment to academic excellence, leadership, and service. Originally chartered on December 31, 1969, the Beta Club has long stood as a symbol of student achievement and character within the school community. Today, that legacy is revived with the induction of 22 outstanding students who now carry the torch forward.

This milestone represents more than just the return of a student organization—it reflects a collective effort to restore a culture that honors scholarship and leadership among young learners. Principal Brittany Moore shared her excitement about the club’s return, noting that the vision and dedication behind its reinstatement were largely driven by Assistant Principal Monica Ruffin, who serves as the lead sponsor.

“Ms. Ruffin’s passion for student growth and leadership has been the driving force behind bringing Beta Club back to life at C.F. Pope,” Moore stated. “Her commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for our students is truly commendable.”

The successful reestablishment of the Beta Club was made possible through the collaborative efforts of a dedicated team of educators and staff members. Supporting this initiative were Amy Borders, Media Coordinator; Christa Mobley, School Social Worker; Anna Self, School Counselor; Dr. Tasheka Jordan, AIG Instructional Specialist; and Holly Greenoe, Title I Lead and Interventionist. Each played a vital role in mentoring students, organizing the induction process, and ensuring the club’s strong foundation moving forward.

The 22 newly inducted members represent the very best of C.F. Pope Elementary—students who exemplify academic achievement, leadership potential, strong character, and a commitment to service. As members of the National Beta Club, they will engage in opportunities that promote community involvement, leadership development, and continued academic success.

The reinstatement of the Beta Club not only honors a proud tradition but also signals a bright future. With a strong team of sponsors and a group of motivated student leaders, C.F. Pope Elementary is poised to continue building a legacy of excellence for years to come.
